Welcome to sophomore English!
My name is Julie Adams. Originally I am from Madisonville, Kentucky, however my husband, Jeremy, is a Portland native.
We met while attending Western Kentucky University in 2000. I am a 2004 graduate of WKU and I received a Masters of Arts in Education from Union University in 2015. My two children Owen (8), and Delaney (6) are shown above and we will be welcoming a baby boy this spring!
I would describe myself as a lifelong learner. Some of my many interests include reading (anything) and hearing people tell their story. I believe in compassion for others and in intentionally encouraging those around me. I also believe in the ability to be articulate in order to put your best foot forward in life. Random values, I know, but they are important to me. These qualities, among others, make up my desire to be a teacher.
Portland is a great community and I am proud to be a faculty member at PHS. I look forward to encountering many more years (and students) within in this wonderful school! This journey is a blessing and I am grateful to be here. I am grateful that you are here, too.
In Sophomore English we hit the ground running. This course will be steeped in the current Tennessee state standards. We will
focus heavily on writing, as well as critically reading literature and informational text. These are the skills that will prepare students for
college and career demands. I strive to always to do this in an interesting and engaging way, because that is how we learn!
You may access the Tennessee state standards for this course here:

Thank you for visiting. I wish you good luck in all of your endeavors during your spring semester!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Adams
