Could you imagine going through that experience at your age? What has stuck out to you from our novel to this point? What are your thoughts so far?
We are almost halfway through Night by Elie Wiesel. Elie was very close to your age (15 years old) when he was taken to the Birkenau-Auschwitz camp with his entire family, and nearly 75 others, in a cattle car. We know he was immediately separated from his mother and sisters. He was never to see some of them again. We also know of the horrific treatments that many of the Jews suffered.
Could you imagine going through that experience at your age? What has stuck out to you from our novel to this point? What are your thoughts so far?

That when his dad was hit he just stood there and didn't do anything. When the babies were used for shooting practice also. I think this is gonna be a good book.

I think that is disturbing, yet interesting. Night makes you realize how grateful you should be for what you have and for what you're not having to go through. Its painfully graphic, but is a real eye opener. I couldnt imagine losing your humanity to an experience like this.

Great relection! I agree. When I read a story like this one, it makes me realize that even on my worst days, things could be so much worse and I have so many blessings.

If I was in Elies place I would have gone crazy already, I couldn't imagine going through the things he has suffered especially watching his dad get hit and him just standing there.

It was extremely disturbing but also it is good to be able to learn from this and help prevent this from happening in the future

I could not imagine going through this at my age. Thoings that have stuck out to me is the way that they treated them like they weren't even people. My thoughts so far on the book are good and I like it a lot but it is also very sad.

I feel hurt because if u put your self in his shoes not having his mother or family watching some people get put to death being in the cold having no food just having to live day by day in fear it's heart braking.

I'd accomplish as many life goals as possible in that amount of time and then just have fun I guess

I couldn't imagine going through what Elie is going through, I'd be so stressed, and I'd be scared for life. I'd go insane, probably. I wouldn't have the mental, or physical strength to be put through it. it makes me thankful for the life that I live, and makes me think to myself how bad things could actually be.

If I were in Elie's shoes at this moment I would probably be very depressed. The reason being is because everyone he knew was either being killed or beaten. I would also be very cautious of my surroundings, and play each day at a time. At any moment he could have been killed but he was very cautious of his surroundings I believe that was one of his reasons he lived through it all.

I don't think I could be as strong as he was if I was in his shoes when he was in the camp, because just the thought of loseing my friends and family scares me because I depending on them and the thought of it happen again is not a pleasant thought.

I like the book so far. I think it's really sad though. I couldn't even imagine being put it that situation. Especially if I had to watch those people getting killed. Particularly the babies and little kids. I get sad just hearing about it let alone watching it! I don't I would have made it through honestly because I kinda have a temper so i probably would have lashed out and go myself killed.

I liked the book. But if I was in his situation I wouldn't know what to do. It would be so hard, all the conditions and not being able to eat and working all the time in the cold. I couldn't do it

We have already finished reading this book but it is very interesting and intense it really makes you look differently at how far people would go and that when people have problems in life and in the world they choose someone to blame doesn't matter what it's about and is pointless and is scary to how far they would take things for no reason for a problem you can't blame on a group of people like that and proves that human race is ignorant as one and and go to endless means just take the blame out on someone else's
